The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Osun State Gubernatorial election, Ademola Adeleke, has said that he has not stepped down for anybody, and still remains the candidate of the party, ahead of the Saturday 22nd September, 2018 Governorship Election in the State.

Adeleke revealed this in a statement, signed by the Director-General of his Campaign, Olawale Rasheed.

The statement dispelled the rumour claiming that the PDP Gubernatorial candidate has stepped down for another candidate of the party.

“Senator Adeleke did not attend any meeting with General Olusegun Obasanjo, or Senator Iyiola Onmsore, and equally did not have any pact with any of the personalities.”

“Senator Adeleke remains the PDP candidate. So, voters are urged to ignore any fake news about Adeleke having any pact with SDP or ADP.

“The PDP candidate is in this race to win”, Rasheed said.

Meanwhile, the Osun State High Court has granted an order restraining the Police from arresting Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Post-Nigeria recalls, that the Police had on Wednesday, asked Adeleke to appear at the Force Headquarters, in Abuja, on the allegation of certificate forgery, but President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention stopped the Police from inviting the candidate.

However, Justice Yinka Aderibigbe gave an exparte order, that Adeleke should not be arrested, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit filed before him by Adeleke.

The order was given following an exparte application made before him by Adeleke’s Counsel, Kanmi Ajibola, before the court.

The Police had earlier invited Adeleke to the Force Headquarters, in Abuja, for the purpose of arraigning him on charges of examination malpractices, criminal conspiracy, impersonation, breach of duty, and aiding and abetting.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP, Jimoh Moshood, had in a statement told Adeleke and four others, to report to the Special Investigation Panel, Force Headquarters, Abuja, immediately, for arraignment in court.

Despite the allegation, Adeleke had boasted that he will win the September 22 Osun State Gubernatorial election, and dance into the State Government House as the State’s new Governor.

Adeleke, popularly called the “Dancing Senator”, due to his habit of flamboyant dancing in public, said no one should use his dancing against him, because everybody dances.

He said: “I will dance to the Government House after winning Osun Governorship election, on Saturday.

“I have been tagged dancing Senator, but this should not be used against me, because everybody dances. Have you seen someone who does not dance? I am winning this election, and I will dance to the Government House, after that.

“When I was in the University overseas, I used to go for dancing competition. Although, I am a Nigerian, I still won dancing competitions, which is the reason why I was nicknamed ‘Jackson’, but my real name is Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.”
